weaversbazaar’s Environmental Statement
At weaversbazaar, we recognise we have a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements. We are fully committed to reducing our environmental impact through a process of continual improvement as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods.
Further information
As part of a regular review of our environmental impact, we are currently targeting our packaging policies. Our aim is to reuse and recycle wherever possible. To avoid purchasing plastic packaging we now send all parcels out in locally recycled cardboard boxes, which may explain why they have many different logos on. Whilst not the most attractive containers, each reuse of these boxes is one less use of valuable raw materials.
It is often hard to figure out which materials exert the least impact on the planet and we will continue to take advice but for now, the small bags we use for yarn collections and other products are fully compostable or biodegradable over a short time frame as they are made from plant-based materials. To pack out orders we are using corrugated cardboard and paper or reusing plastic airbags or bags sent to us. Waste from our unit constitutes one bag of non-recyclable material per month and this does not go into landfill but is combusted in a high-tech facility providing heating to domestic homes.
What else have we been able to do? We will be supporting our local Post Office, which is just arounf the corner from our premises.
We welcome suggestions from our customers on how we can continue to minimise the impact we have on the environment and hope that when you receive packaging from us you are able to find a way to dispose of it responsibly or better still reuse it. We know we are not a big organisation but we feel every little helps and is worth doing.
